From 2012-2019 The Traveling Murphys performed as a family band that included Kevin on banjo, Darcy on autoharp and penny whistle, and our daughters Lulu on fiddle and percussion and Rosy on guitar.  At the time we started playing together Lulu was 7 and Rosy was 12.  Our first festival was the Scottish Tartan Festival in Minden, LA and we eventually took our brand of old time music on the road, playing festivals and gigs all over the south.  We even busked in France!  In 2013 we recorded our CD, Honeysuckle Dreams. Comprised of original music combined with old favorites we recorded at the Coy Green studio in Denton, Texas.  Following the release of the CD we filmed a video for I'll Tell Me Ma with De la Torre Creative Media in Houston, and were nominated for a Houston Press Music award for best local video in 2013.  All good things must come to an end, and when our guitar player left for college in the Texas hill country we found it hard to keep gigging together as a family, only taking the occasional festival booking.  We continue to play at all our family gatherings and are grateful for the time we gave ourselves to make music together, to meet so many interesting and generous people and to create such wonderful memories.  Below are some of our favorite photos and videos.
